Early College

From the classroom to the auditorium

School students studying at university? Thanks to support from the Deutsche Telekom Stiftung, this is possible nationwide at more than 50 universities. As a contribution to the promotion of excellence in Germany, the foundation makes it possible for universities to offer early study courses. This gives particularly gifted and hard-working youngsters the opportunity to take part in regular lectures and examinations even while they are still at school. The credits gained in this way are recognized later on when the students have enrolled at university.

At present there are, on average, 43 school students per university who have taken up the offer of early study. What is particularly encouraging is that in terms of the number of participants, it is the STEM subjects, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, that are the most popular. As a rule, around 90 per cent of them successfully complete their course of early study.
