Artificial intelligence in teaching and learning
Many modern educational technologies already incorporate aspects of artificial intelligence (AI), including applications for school organization, teaching and testing, and learning and practicing. Examples include learning platforms or learning apps that adapt the tasks to the learner’s competence profile.
But where do AI-powered applications that promote learning currently stand in their evolution? What is already available? Where are the opportunities, what are the challenges and risks in this area? How far along are other countries in their evolution? These are the questions Deutsche Telekom Stiftung is exploring with its partners. The mmb Institute, for example, has prepared a market and trend analysis with the collaboration of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education (DIPF).
The study’s authors compiled an initial overview of AI-supported programs available in English and German in an international comparison. They also evaluated scientific studies and interviewed experts to identify opportunities, challenges and risks.
Building on the comprehensive findings the study concludes with four recommendations.
