PISA. This acronym – short for the Program for International Student Assessment – has become virtually synonymous with the German educational system's weaknesses. According to the PISA study, education in mathematics and science still leaves much to be desired in Germany, despite recent improvements.

One of Deutsche Telekom Stiftung's aims is to spark more interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics at elementary and secondary schools, and bring together in-school and extracurricular learning. This will encourage more children and teenagers to learn the STEM skills they need to succeed at school and in life.

Another key aspect of this field is to bring university and career goals into the classroom early on. We believe that close ties between schools and partners in academia and industry are an important tool for helping students manage the transition from school to college or work.
